Studio Y took inspiration from the historic 1930's building without being too obvious or typically art deco. The use of dark timber stains and gemstone coloured tones creates a feeling of opulence without being too flashy. The specialty painted distressed walls create a sense of inner-city grit juxtaposed with the glossy mirrored surfaces. The lighting plays a huge part in creating the correct ambience for a late-night speakeasy, the dimly lit space is warm and inviting whilst the red wall lights create a unique red glow creating a sense of intrigue from the laneway outside.
