The Fifth Province

“Never let anyone design or build a pub who doesn’t drink in a pub,” says The Fifth Province owner Liam Ganley, and we’re inclined to agree. For our update of The Fifth’s Public Bar, as well as its brand new Whisky Bar, verandah and beer garden, our designers fully immersed themselves in the experience of drinking in a Galway or Dublin local. With utmost respect to the heritage-listed site, we sympathetically revitalised the existing venue; some original joinery retained, new additions carefully selected to feel as though they’ve been around for centuries.

While it’s a far cry from its former days as a train station, old-world craftsmanship is celebrated in all the small details. We worked with talented artisans to create bespoke finishings: handsewn pendant lights courtesy of Ilanel; custom cabinetry by MIC Projects; speciality painting by Scanlan & Makers and El Oso Negro; and immaculate gold gilding by Good Sign Co.
