Nick & Nora’s
Nick & Nora’s
Named for the sleuthy lead couple in the 1934 classic film The Thin Man, Nick & Nora’s is film noir catapulted into the 21st century. The Speakeasy Group tasked us with creating an opulent space that would feel like you had stepped into the world of the fictional crime-fighting heroes. A cocktail bar, with nods to art deco and 1920s hotel luxe, but with a contemporary bent.
Velvet surfaces, smoky detective dining spaces and walnut timber panelling all work together to create an opulent environment that’s both mystifying and seductive. Meanwhile, brass detailing, Verde stone and walnut panelling anchor the space; Tiffany lighting and fluted glass glimmer in the dim recesses.
There was no cutting corners here – handmade stained glass wall sconces were shipped from France, exuding authenticity; each material and item was carefully considered as a genuine hallmark of the era. All of the velvet upholstery has been vertically channel tufted, with furniture supplied by James Richardson in matching fabrics.

KICK OFF YOUR SHOES – We’ve designed Nick & Nora’s to feel like a ritzy home, with different nooks and hideaways for revellers to enjoy. It’s a little reminiscent of a house party, only the cocktails here are world-class.
