For Starward Whisky’s newly revamped Distillery & Bar in Port Melbourne, Studio Y has taken all the usual distillery design tropes and turned them firmly on their head. 

In collaboration with Pom Pom Studio, we’ve instead created a space for the iconic Australian brand that’s equal parts intergalactic and down-to-earth; channelling Starward’s playful and vibrant identity with every otherworldly detail. The brand’s signature hues – deeply contrasting orange and blue, inspired by the natural terrain of Australia – have been rendered to full effect with bold colour blocking. An iridescent blue speciality paint by Scanlan & Makers transforms from a bright metallic in daylight to a deep celestial navy by night. Meanwhile, illuminated blue and orange acrylic elements lend a futuristic transparency.
